Practical monocular "Baigish" BPC2 12x45M
Good day
everyone Today I would like to present a review of one of my most anticipated
purchases done in the turn of last year that is a monocular "Baigish"
BPC2 12x45M.
My need of
optics is minimal one: miniature
binoculars for urban tourism, EDC monocular, a small telescope and portable
monocular. And if the first items on the list I haven't even chosen yet the
review of one good monocular you can read right now.
Monoculars are
praised for their usefulness. Exclusion of the excess half in favor of
functionality. Designated for frequent, but short observations of distant
objects while moving. It comprises
walking in nature and in the city, hiking, boating. For me it is a land
paleontological journeys. A detailed overview of the area for the output
reservoir rocks with fossils will reduce aimless wandering.
Moreover decrease by half in weight the
ex-binoculars cost less by half.
In autumn trying to catch up with the ending
hiking season in the cold ravines and gullies I convinced myself that I need a
monocular. I decided to make purchase on aliexpress due to known to all of us
reasons. The only explanation for me to
find the product of "Kazan Optical and Mechanical Plant" on the
shelves of Chinese store is special distinguished quality. I either have not found such models available
in Ukraine
or the same was of higher price.
The parcel was
delivered to me as early as in the end of December 2016 but traditional job
rush and holidays didn't let even unfold it.
The package was enveloped with 6-7 layers of air bubble film carefully taped up with yellow tape.
Neat black case
of leather substitute with a hand strap was Inside.
Inner part of
case is made of polyurethane foam and the inside surface is of soft tissue.
Inside the cover
I found a monocular itself wrapped in a plastic bag, operation manual and a
cloth for cleaning the lenses.
The manual is in
two languages for the series of BPC binoculars the predecessor of the
monocular. Let's get straight to the point without much words. Technical
specifications of niche specialization. Release date 16.09.18. Year and a half to the guarantee. The
manufacturer by the way provides a 5 year guarantee which states for producer's
confidence in the quality of its products.
The serial
number matches that on the monocular.

monocular is metal with plastic parts beside the eyepiece, objective and in the
place where prisms are located.

monocular is plastered with texture rubber.

running diopter focusing knob for adjustment of image sharpness.
Fastening for

Dimensions 185 mm by 60 mm in the widest part.
Weight 415 g.
Tactile
impressions.
Monocular is a pleasant to keep in hands or use
it. Comfortably fits the hand. Rugged rubber coating ensures firm contact with
skin. Hands do not sweat. Smooth adjustment of image sharpness. The whole item
is not large and well-proportioned. The concentration of engineering -
thoughtful and practical design.
Use in practice
and field tests.
The monocular
ensures excellent zoom, good definition and bright image. Clear, sharp and accurate image view. Excellent color reproduction. Optics is
covered with antireflecting layer and magnification corresponds to the stated one
(see the testing below). I wasn't even close to take a true image that ensures
the monocular - a digital cameras can not compete with complex and unique eye
optic system. Those who wrote the review on the similar subject will understand
what I'm talking about.
I was in await
of clear sunny weather but then I lost all hope. The shooting took place on
different days in different locations under different lighting and weather
conditions.
First location

Live, each sheet
is clearly visible through the monocular.
Second
position. Chimney pipe at roof top. 200 meter distance.
Third position.
Corner of multistoried building. 290 meter distance.
Second location.
Morning. The
temperature is +1°C.
First
position. Balcony of corner apartment. 185 meter distance.
Live, tiny
pieces of tiled balcony are clearly viewed through the monocular. A bit of
zoom.
Second position.
Car parking place (wrecked GAZ-53) 860 meter distance.
I wasn't able to
get a good look at a trcuk in the horizon. A bit of zoom.

position. Industrial chimney. 1100 meter distance.

Some people
believe that in the optics with magnification above x12 there is a strong
shaking that complicates viewing.
Baigish barely faces this problem. Subjectively I can easily keep focus
on the object. And this becomes easier every time. As to me it's and optimal
magnification.

Measuring
diameter of exit pupil that makes up 3.75 mm. 45/3.75 = 12 - magnification corresponds to that indicated
in the specification. It's heartening to see that.

Having summoned
the AUTOCAD demons I make model of few useful accessories.
Eyepiece cap.
Protective cap
is not complete with the monocular. Need for the protective cap will be
determined by the way how I will be using the monocular. Decided for myself
that I need the cap. A more practical
version made of thick rigid leather but I didn't have that one available so I
decided to do plasic print. Measuring, modeling and printing took me a few
minutes. One hour and the cap is ready. Model for thingiverse.
Fixture to
stand.
This was made
for photo shoot, but it extends opportunities for fastening to anything. To the

I'm planning to
sew a traveling case of good leather. And make strap for eyepiece cap and neck
strap for carrying.
Conclusion:
This model is
well balanced in price and quality. Suits well for tourism, hiking (land) and
sighting. Perfect gift. In most cases this monocular satisfies your need s in
optics. For me it's one of the best purchases I made in the turn of 2016. I
recommend this one.
